Bushfires raged across our region in November and December 2019. Five members of the Wollongbar Garden Club decided to strike cuttings from their garden and nurture them for about a year and donate them for garden regeneration.

On 5 November 2020, around 200 new plants were delivered to the New Italy Museum, forty kilometres south of Wollongbar. Construction of the new section of the Pacific Highway upgrade, due to open in November, meant that the surrounds of the Museum, cafe and gift shop needed a boost.

A working party will plant the donated m on the weekend at the border of the footpath for the new parking area. As it is a designated Rest Area, there will be many visitors.
